Memorial tournament 2013 in commemoration of  N.Bagley

     AMICO maxibasketball veterans participated in the international tournament in the memory of N. Bagley, famous soviet basketball player, master of sports of the international class. AMICO’s veterans competed in 60+ and in 65+ age categories. The tournament took place on November 22-24, 2013 in Kyiv. 

       On November 22 AMICO team left from Nikolaev to Kyiv. In the same day AMICO 60+ held game with world champions-2013 national team of Ukraine 65+.

      The first period passed in equal fight, but the AMICO team was quicker, as was recorded on a scoreboard - 12 : 10. AMICO players A.Petrov, S.Lakezin and Yu.Isaenko scored 6, 4, and 2 points respectively. V.Karpuhin contributed with two three-pointers for Ukrainian national team, whilst A.Vedeneev and V.Datsyuk notched 2 points each.

       In the second period the AMICO team was exactly twice more productive than a national team of Ukraine 65+. A.Petrov was very difficult to stop. He earned 12 points. Yu.Zhukov performed 6 points from outside the three-point line. L.Prohorov, M.Erkin and S.Lakezin added 2 points each. AMICO made their shots, building a 36 : 22 halftime advantage.

       In the third period the AMICO team played without A.Petrov. AMICO’s veterans didn’t know that during a break the coach of world champions inspired the players on a victory. The champions stepped on the gas and started hammering three times more balls than the AMICO team, being outscored 21 : 8 in the third quarter. But the joint account in the game still was in favor of the AMICO team – 44 : 43. 

        Inspired with success the champions continued their offensive actions in the fourth stanza. It allowed them to win the game – 66 : 55. V.Karpuhin led the winners with 17 points including three triples. AMICO’s top scorers A.Petrov and Yu.Zhukov responded with 20 and 15 points respectively.

        Next day on November 23 AMICO 60+ held a game with perennial friends-rivals Dneprobasket-60+ team which proved recently themselves as collector of gold medals. In the first period AMICO outscored Dneprobasket 16 : 10. Dneprobasket won the second quarter 15 : 11. After three quarters AMICO registered a 39 : 35 lead. A.Petrov brought 17 points and S.Lakezin brought 15 points in this advantage. But Dneprobasket trimmed the gap in the fourth term 49 : 49. Moreover Dneprobasket scored 2 points at last second of the game – 51 : 49 and recorded the next win.

        AMICO held the last game with team of Lviv. AMICO confidently won the first period 16 : 7. In the second quarter well-aimed throws of S.Lakezin, Yu.Isaenko, Yu.Zhukov got to the opponents’ basket. AMICO enjoyed 29 : 19 lead after halftime. In the second half  Lviv team tried to recoup, but it appeared inaccessible dream. AMICO defeated Lviv team 48 : 44. S.Lakezin orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points. A.Petrov contributed with 13 points for the winners. Yu.Zhukov and Yu.Isaenko added 5 points each. L.Prohorov produced 4 points.
